Marooned on Me Favorite Day

I'm home alone today, marooned and swabbing the hull while me wee buckos are off at school. After a groggy morning I spent overflowing the scuttlebutts, jamming lunches in bags, bows in hair, and booty from our favorite book into their skulls, I am careening.  Everything from the moonraker to Davy Jones' Locker will sparkle like a freshly polished doubloon before my deckhands return.  I want to plunder the afternoon with me hearties and revel in what has become one of me favorite days of the year, International Talk Like a Pirate Day!!!  If you want to enjoy the day immersed in the swashbuckling seas of pirates too, then climb aboard, me hearties!!

Up, Up, and Away Birthday!

"Squirrel!"

While I'm on the topic of birthdays, I feel like sharing their birthday party last year too.  I was trying to find something that would appeal to both boys and girls since we haven't crossed the *Girls Only* bridge yet.  At the time, my daughters loved to watch the Disney movie UP, as did/do I, and I thought we might be able to have some fun with this idea.  The love story in the movie will bring tears to your eyes (no matter your age) and the plot is full of adventure and invention.  If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend watching it soon!  It is one of those magical films that grown-ups and children alike can relate enjoy together without injecting masked adult humor into a child's film.

Peter Pan Birthday

Following my daughters' infatuation with Peter Pan, a Neverland-themed birthday party was inevitable.  They chased his shadow around Disney World and Disneyland.  They dressed like Tinkerbell and Wendy for Halloween.  And now they wanted to have a birthday party filled with all the imagination and adventure Peter Pan .  Of course, I obliged.

Enlightenment, again!

I took full advantage of my time off from blogging to reflect and reassess things.  When I first began blogging, my purpose was to share our favorite children's books and ramble on occasion about whatever was going on in my life.  Then I got wrapped up in trying to find an online community.  I wanted to find other mommies that enjoyed children's books as much as I do.  I first joined Top Baby Blogs because one of my friends is listed there and quickly realized it wasn't the right fit for me.  I was done having babies and most of the moms on there were/are professional bloggers.  I am not.  At the time, I was struggling to find the time to write about even one fourth of the things I planned to and wasn't up to par with those super bloggers.  After a while, I removed myself from the directory.  As it turns out, my passion for kid's literature isn't as common as I originally assumed. :]

I'm back, Jack.

So, I may have watched a bit too much Duck Dynasty on my hiatus.  Sorry for partying.  I'm back, Jack.  And it feels amazing.  My girls are both in school and I'm home alone today.  This marks my very first guilt-free day by myself since 2007.  I can't stop smiling.  Where the H-E-double-hockey-sticks have I been, you ask?  Well.  Here. And there.  Everywhere.  I just needed a break- a chance to stop and look around.
