And the Winners are...

I need to extend a big thank you to everyone who entered our giveaway by sharing the link on your facebook page!  I felt this book was extraordinary the first time I read it; my children echo my sentiments almost every night when they both reach for it at bedtime!  It gives me great pleasure to know two more households will get to experience the creative genius of Julia Donaldson and Axel Sheffler!

Charlotte and Claudia were thrilled to each take a turn pulling a name out of a mixing bowl!  And the two winners of a copy of The Gruffalo are......

*APRIL* and *CATHERINE*

Congratulations April and Catherine!
I hope The Gruffalo is as significant in your little library as it is in ours!

As a thank you for your support,
I leave you with this yummy recipe for "Gruffalo Crumble"!

Ingredients

4cups peeled and diced apples
cup flour
1teaspoon cornstarch
½cup sugar
Dash salt
1teaspoon cinnamon
teaspoon grated nutmeg
For the crumble
cups flour
½cup sugar
½teaspoon baking powder
dash salt
½teaspoon cinnamon
1stick cold butter cut into small pieces
1egg beaten with ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract or vanilla paste

Directions

Oven to 375.
Put the apples in a large bowl. Add in the flour, cornstarch, sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix with a spoon to coat. Set aside.
In another bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Using a pastry blender or two forks, cut the cold butter into the mixture until it resembles crumbs. In a small bowl beat the egg and the vanilla with a fork and add it into the mixture. Stir to incorporate.
Evenly divide the apples into 4 large baking dishes or 8 small ramekins If you want to make one big apple crumble, pour the apples into an 8×8 inch baking pan. Spread the crumb mixture over the apples and bake 35 – 45 minutes depending on what size baking dish(es) you are using. When a knife slides into the apples easily, you should be good to go! Place on a cooling rack or eat warm!!

  2. I've noticed you said you're a future author, but I've read through your blog and Facebook page, and all of your writing and pictures are someone else's work. Have you considered sharing your own talents with us?

    1. Thank you for your interest! I would love to share things I'm working on, but it is frowned upon to post unpublished works by the agents and publishers I respect. And it takes years to get books published! :/ However, the writing in both the "My Galapagos" and "Re|Engage" series is all my own! A glimpse of my writing style is always visible in the children's book reviews. My passion is for children to cultivate a love for reading at an early age. So I really enjoy spreading the word about interesting articles and cool books vs. self-promotion. I appreciate you stopping by!
