Give a book GIVEAWAY

It's that time of year again- a time to spread love, to splurge on flowers, to indulge in sweets, and to appreciate the special ones in our lives.  I've been wanting to extend my gratitude with a giveaway for a while now.  And with Valentine's Day and International Book Giving Day falling on the same date, I chose today!

For my long-time followers, you know one of my favorite days of the year is International Book Giving Day!  I am passionate about encouraging a love of books and want to continually thank y'all for stopping by my blog time and time again.  If you aren't familiar with what Book Giving Day is, please let me explain.  It's a global effort to get books in the hands of as many children as possible!  Here are ways you can celebrate too:

Click here for more about Little Free Libraries.
  1. Give a book to a friend or relative.  Stop by your local bookstore and pick up a copy of one you really loved as a kid and give it to your niece, your neighbor's kid down the street, or your child's best friend at school.
  2. Leave a book in a waiting room or a lobby.
  3. Donate a book.  Wrap up some books your children have outgrown and deliver them to the library, the children's hospital, a women's shelter, or stop by a Little Free Library nearest you!
  4. Purchase a tote from KatchACanvas and they'll donate book in your name to a public school in the Philippines.

To spread a love for literacy, last year I gave away a four-pack of board books from Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman's Bear series.  This year, I'm giving away two KatchaCanvas book totes!  I promise they won't be empty, but what each contains depends on the winner.  The goal of the teachers behind KatchaCanvas is to help children develop a love for reading.  I've been following their work for over a year and each time they make a donation, it makes my heart smile.  They sent me two totes for the giveaway.  The first is for all the Dr. Seuss lovers out there!  The second is for all our lovely teacher friends! One winner of each tote and surprise books will be chosen at random Friday, February 21st!

We all heard about the horrific devastation put upon the Philippines by Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan.  I know we were heartbroken to watch the news unfold.  They still need our help.   Buying a tote from KatchACanvas and spurring a book donation to young students in the Philippines is a small way to extend our love, but anything helps.  KatchACanvas is located in Manila Philippines and they have done a great job making it easy to place international orders via paypal on their facebook page here!

100% of the proceeds from the Kapit Lang tote pictured below will go to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan. Donations will be coursed through Isko Ops at UP Dilimin and One La Salle Relief at DLSU.  Like, shop, and spread the word about KatchACanvas!
